XTS3000 Firmware

Post by Rayjk110 »

Hello. Upon reading/writing my radio here (as I often do for minor changes and such), I noticed the Tracking Tab under the Radio Information view. (I noticed this a while ago, I had just forgotten to post the question)

Anyways.... My question is how do i update the Firmware/DSP? Does this require that the radio be flashed, or is it a matter of writing it with something different in the codeplug, so to speak?

Here is the information:

Firmware: 05.00.02.00
DSP Software: N06.04.09

I have been advised by a friend of mine that this is quite old.

Thanks for any insight on the question.

(EDIT: Just FYI...if it is a case where it needs to be sent to Moto, the radio has all factory tags and such)

SmartRib and flash upgrade kit are needed.

It is not something that an average civilian can do, Motorola and/or possibly a dealer can do it though, perhaps some people on the board can make you a deal

If your not using advanced features that require it, your not missing much. The only benefit in upgrading to v8, is that ASTRO sounds much better. Other than that, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I can affirm the difference in IMBE performance as well as better analog audio on my XTS when moving up to DSP ver 8. My MSS did it for a whole 35.00 labor charge and I had it back the same day...much better sounding audio (especially on P25) now.

Well, the audio on RX sounds kinda 'poppily'...where if you had a scanner it would sound fine. Ya it kinda sounds digitalized....the new upgrade would probably help once I get the $
