MTR-2000 UHF Repeater with 2 CTCSS Codes ????

Post by KB2ZTX »

I have a customer that has numerous MTR-2000 repeaters. They want to add a second CTCSS tone to one of the units for a very casual user. I looked all thru the program and didn't find it. Is this possible, or dod they need an external controller to do this ?

You will need the external controller. If your controller puts out CTCSS and TX audio on seperate lines, you will also need a mixer circuit to sum the two signals, since the MTR2000 only has a single audio input.

Zetron makes a nifty little adapter card that just plugs into the system connector on the back of the MTR2000 and provides a cable with all of the appropriate inputs and outputs for interfacing the controller.

I am currently running an MTR2000 with one of their interfaces and a Model 38 controller and I have nothing but positive things to say about it.

The interface board is somewhere around $200 but it works like a champ, and it's pretty much the only game in town for the job.

Thanks for the info...you would think the amount they charge for the radio it would do more than 2 PL's. Guess there not going to be able to do this (el cheapo people..)

What radios do you own?: Kenwood, Yaesu, ICOM, Motorola

Multi-PL

/\/\ products and doing inexpensive modifications written on the same line just doesn't work.

The only thing I can contribute as a /\/\ alternative is purchasing the AUX I/O CLN1206A FRU Module from A.A.D. Parts Department for $600.00 and installing the module into the card cage. Enable the CLN6698 Wildcard software parameter in the main screen and Write it into the MTR2000 station's memory. Set up a second frequency pair identical to the first repeater pair except using a different PL Code. Script the Wildcard to Scan between the receiver frequencies on F1 & F2 for the proper PL Encode / Decode frequencies and Write this information into the MTR2000 station's memory.

Thanks for that info. we have that card in the base now. I'll have to try that and see what happens.
