xts2500 800mhz astro 25 to VHF

Post by beaujo_fire »

Is it possible to change an xts 2500 that is on 800mhz to a vhf. I realize this is a very general and broad question, but looking to see if it can be done at all before I start researching everything that must be done to do it. If it can be done.

Thanks for any help.

What radios do you own?: FPP 6 meter XTL 5K's

Actually it can be done, replace the vocon and replace the rf board, it may not be cost effective, but it could be done. Some would call that a "parts built" radio.

I would just look for a 123 VHF radio.

That wouldn't work either, unless you're really good with soldering surface mount components because the RF/Vocon board is all one piece.... just like the HT1550, 1250, etc.

Well it's a good thing that you can salvage at least the knobs and case.
