XTS5000 Question - Can FPP Option Q52 or Q53 be added?

Post by n6fnp »

I am planning on getting an XTS5000 HT. I would defiantly
like to get one that has FPP field programmability, but
expect that I would probably only be able to find one
not set up for this.

Can anyone tell me if either the Q53 or Q52 FPP option
can be added to an XTS5000 radio. I doubt the Q52 can be
due to the federal government requirement, but what about
the Q53 option? Any idea how it can be added, and how
much it would cost?

It would have to be added via Motorola's FLASHport upgrading system (a kit that can be ordered with software to flash upgrade the radio(s), with a hardware dongle to enable you to do it). Price seems to vary depending on who you are/who you know/what time of day it is. Count on spending a couple hundred at least.
