changing a vhf astro to 800

Post by xslashx33 »

whats involved? Is it as simple as changing the RF-Board and re-aligning and getting an 800 codeplug or do you need to get a different vcoder along with the rf board?

What radios do you own?: APX4K, XTL5K, NX5200, NX700HK

hahahaha

You need everything BUT a different vocon board... well, and control head.

Your best bet is just to get an 800Mhz Astro Spectra and sell the VHF one.

It depends on what kind of "astro" you mean.

The astro saber or XTS3000 requires only an RF board and codeplug change (I've done this and its not too difficult). The astro spectra would be a little more involved.

The XTS5000 would be a new vocon along with the RF board.

There is a very sketchy note in model specific info on doing this. Something with astro lab and hidden features. I wish batlabs would update their astro saber info?
Or is still to touchy a subject?
