Will a 146 to 174 Astro Spectra work in P25 mode at 144.89?

Will a 146 to 174 Astro Spectra work in P25 mode at 144.89? I have seen here on the board that the Astro units do not like to work in P25 mode outside of the advertised band limits. I have a chance to get a W4 unit, but my mixed mode repeater is on 145.49/144.89, and I would hate to spend the money on a radio that will not work on my repeater in P25.

Thanks,

Jim.

Mine seems to work ok on 143Mhz frequencies in Astro (RX though).... I'm sure TX there works too.

In my experience, as long as your reference oscillator is aligned (eg. it's on frequency) it should work. I didn't start having similar problems on a UHF Astro Spectra until about 8 MHz outside the split. Keep in mind this was also a modified VCO. Your mileage will most likely vary.

mine won't

it receives fine, but it it transmits garbage

I've been told if I mod the rss to change one the reference freqs and retune it will work.
