HT1000 microphonics question

Post by VinnyGT19 »

Hello,

I received a UHF HT1000 in trade for a VHF HT1000 last month through this board; the radio has the microphonics 'crackling' 'wind tunnel' problem that others have had problems with as in this thread: http://batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopic.p ... =crackling.

While browsing eBay, I came across these kits:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 5875434104

would that alleviate the problem? The case is kinda beat up as well so I'd like to replace it anyway. I'm brand new to the HT1000, so if anyone has suggestions, I would appreciate the help. thanks.

What radios do you own?: XTS2500, XTS5000, and MTS2000

first, that kit is a heck of a deal, for not much more than a refurb kit you get everything. too bad I sold off all my HT1000's...

as far as the problem you are having, it is most likely caused by loose shield on the RF board itself. It's a common problem with older Jedi's. The kit above is an excellent investment but I don't think it will solve your problem. It will alleviate a "hum" or "whine" on the TX if that's present from RF feedback.

To fix the crackling, your gonna have to do a little detective work. To properly solder on the RF board, it requires an SMD rework station or hot air. Your average soldering iron isn't going to be effective. This may mean a trip to your local MSS.

personally I would shop around for another HT1000. UHF HT1K's are plentiful.
