Problems with Test mode

Post by kcallis »

A friend of mine just got a Motorola Astro Saber H04KDH9PW7AN (VHF). When he turns it on, it never exits out of Testing Mode. Any suggestions on why it has occured and more importantly, how get get past that problem?

What does the radio say, specifically? Service mode is engaged by pressing the front wrap button five times in succession after power-on. The radio will then run through a bunch of info screens, followed by "RF TEST" where it will remain.

Could it be someone programmed a mode with an alpha name of "Testing Mode"?

Sounds like he means it continually shows "self test" on the screen, which can be anything as simple as a low battery, to needing a new controller board.

No trees were harmed in the posting of this message...however an extraordinarily large number of electrons were horribly inconvenienced.

I had this same problem. The radio got to self test then just started getting hot. It ended up being a bad controller.
