Panasonic CF28 problem, I am stumped!!!!!

Post by spectragod »

Ok, here's the deal. I have a CF28, P III, 800MHz, I wanted to add a backlit keyboard, should be simple...... yeah right.

The unit plugs in, the additional flex plugs in, but..... no backlight. I have benched the KB, it does work. Called Panasonic, they told me that there was a retrofit kit for the 28 but would not elaborate any more, at that point all they wanted to do was sell me a service manual, -0- help what so ever.

There is an additional connector on that board, it goes to the backlighting connector, there is apparently a plug in for this that will activate this feature. If someone can help me with a part # or a work around, that would be great.

Thanks in advance,

Which backlit keyboard is it, the rubberized one or the normal style?

It is the rubberized Kboard, I would have preferred the "chicklet" keyboard with backlighting.

The rubberized keypad is simply a drop in, replace the keyboard and away you go. If the back lighting isn't functioning either its a defective keyboard or computer. If you had the "chicklet" sylte back lit keyboard then extra parts would be needed.

The kboard works, on the bench, there is no + voltage @ the connector for the Kboard. If you can turm me on to a schematic, that would help.

Sorry, I have no schematics or anything of that nature for the CF-28.
