Need help deciphering astro saber

Post by saberjerk »

Hi
I have a vhf astro saber 2.
It has this firmware and flash.

Host: 05.60.00.00
DSP: N06.05.02
Flash: 100001-000000-7

Just wondering what this can do and if it's worth keeping.
According to the flash decoder it should be able to to IMBE.
Thanks

What radios do you own?: X9000 thru APX

Very basic flash.

IMBE and standard MDC1200 features.

No frills or thrills (not that most people use the other features anyways).
Lowband radio. The original and non-complicated wide area interoperable communications system

So what you are saying is this could support all those features I would never use If it were reflashed with a codeplug that has them enabled?

Ya. All depends on what is in the FlashCode to what it will do.

Basically, unless you have a need for multiple encyption keys, singletone operation, MDC1200 commands that only work with console equipment, etx etc, what you have would be fine for ham or basic two-way use.

What where you going to use the radio for?

Oh, it's a toy. Ham, comercial etc. Nothing a sp50 or something like that could do.
Just like learning new stuff. i.e. hacking
