This thread has nothing to do with Motorola specifically, although it may have been a M rep that notified eBay.
If you want to use eBay, you have to follow "THEIR" rules, period.

In their listing rules, they don't word it very well, but what it boils down to is any 2-way radio gear or receivers must be FCC type accepted for sale in the US to be be listed on eBay.
M radios intended for the Asian market, CB amps, 10 meter CB radios, "long distance" cordless phones etc ...
eBay forbids selling Motorola Radios???

Military surplus radio gear is not 'FCC type accepted' because the military is not governed by the FCC. I didn't read anything on eBay that prohibits this type of gear, whether made by M for the Government or not. Or am I missing something?hamptonbeach wrote:This thread has nothing to do with Motorola specifically, although it may have been a M rep that notified eBay.

Well you could always try selling your radio equipment were there are NO rules like the newsgroup rec.radio.swap then you wont have to worry about fools like Patric Harrington killing your add.
Just my 2 cents

The only thing you are missing is that eBay doesn't have the knowledge or space to list every non FCC type piece of gear.
They may consider it military memorabelia or they may not know what to think.
eBay doesn't actively police their site.
They admit this.
They rely on the members to bring violations to their attention.
So when your listing is pulled, thank a fellow member ...

It certainly helpmed me to understand what is happening here (if not why)

First thing right from the start, Motorola can NOT confiscate anything from you, no matter what they may think, and as this has been pointed out in the past with Circle-M, they have NO police powers and can ONLY act within the confines of any citizen.John G wrote:This is a very interesting topic. After reading a rather lenghty Motorola policy statement regarding intellectual property rights, I was pondering some of the same points. Specifically concerning the GP68. Motorola says it is illegal to own one in the US. Not because it isn't type accepted, mine is, and they do list this as one of the reasons. It is illegal because it violates their intellectual property rights. I had wondered how, but it seems that you can pretty much spell out how your intellectual property can and can't be used. It doesn't have to even make sense. So, basically, if M wanted to, they could confiscate my GP68 if ever they were to see me with it or even know that I owned it. I wonder about licensing though. What if I buy second hand and never saw or knew of the existence of the IP license agreement? It seems not to matter judging by the behavior of E bay. Considering their stance on RSS and the export radio issue, it seems to me they are more concerned with IP rights than making good radios. Though I own some Motorola stuff, I am getting less inclined to ever buy any again. I am not bashing the big M here. It is merely common sense. Why buy a brand of radio where the maker considers you a potential defendant in a lawsuit from the get go?
I have enough to be concerned with already without this too.
I would love some Rancho-Del-Moto nazi try to take my property from me...That act alone will be very hazardous to his health, and might also suffer from lead poisoning as well.
One word of caution to any Moto-Mojo billy bad-asses reading these posts, keep your hands to yourself and your nose OUT of MY business!
IP rigths.....Hmmm, maybe if they quote this forum with printed materials, the forum owner/s should sue for IP rights violations as well, well, copyright theft at the very least.
My Circle-M buying days are over.
They continue to pull these circus stunts and everybody accepts this and keeps buying Circle-M garbage.....WHY?
I will have a pic or five posted on image bucket showing the hammering of a few STX portables, controllers and cases...along with a mic or two, for starters, then I'll go onto bigger and better, and also sending those same pics with a nice letter stating that they can take their IP rights and shove it!
NO MORE!
I'm going to Kenwood from now on, the moto-junk gets sold, traded or burned.
I've had enough, and Ebay can kiss my A$$ as well!
The more money you pay the batwing, the deeper the fangs get.
Vampires are bloodthirsty critters, and the corporation is the very same way.
And as a final note, just so I can get my very own RSS warning...I have RSS I am dumping!
Last post from me here, but before I leave, I will say the folks here are the BEST!
Great folks from all over this nation and abroad, too bad the BAT prefers to slap their once loyal customers in the face, that too shall come to bite them in their collective A$$e$, and I can't wait to see the 'FOR SALE' signs posted on the buildings(we know it will never happen).
I wonder how many voter complaints of unfair trade practices and dumping charges would affect their bottom line.....I'd love to see ALL their chinese imports taxed upwards of 1000% for the loss of american jobs, thanks to offshore warehousing of incompetent workers and far lower wages.
I guess it's time to dump my collection of iDEN phones too, and buy a few SANYOs, NOKIAs and SAMSUNGS, just to keep my money out of the hands of Circle-M, and rightly so.
I'm glad the Razr cellphone has forced many to dump it in favor of better phones....pretty funny that 'M' can't even construct phones anymore that are as tough as they used to be, but are now flimsy chinese made crap that breaks and can't hear a boulder drop across the street(V400).
The V400 had serious firmware problems, and I had to replace mine 3 times, then upgraded to a better phone, the LG G4050, no camera, but far better receiver. No frills GSM serive, and NO returns either, that says a lot about a company that can't get its collective schmidt together.
Good luck everybody!
Take care and ADIOS!
