XTS 5000 Carrier Squelch ISSUE
I've got an XTS 5000 Model 2 in front of me, which has at least 2 zones programmed up with frequencies. For some reason, the carrier squelch Icon appears for all personalities and I can't get the radio to operate in normal squelch mode ( and , or , etc. ). I don't have any buttons/switches programmed to PL disable, and as for as I know, there is no global carrier squelch option and there are no MPL's setup. What's the deal here?
If the 'Rx Voice/Signal Type' is Non-ASTRO and the Rx Squelch Type in the zone/channel assignement is CSQ, a monitor icon will be shown for that channel. If your Rx Voice/Signal Type is Mixed Mode, no monitor icon is shown even for the CSQ channels.
'HUB defeats PL' in the conventional config should also be unchecked just in case but I have yet to know what this has to do with a portable radio? Or is this in the software to mirror the XTL mobile programming?

You got a corrupt codeplug somehow. The CPS doesn't catch some items are items as being invalid, however they are and can cause some really funky stuff to happen. With all the different firmwares out there for the XTS5000, there's bound to be some bugs in the software. Keep in mind that we are not dealing with Whores, but legit flashes that should not do :o like this.
You might have discovered a new bug in the XTS5000 firmware as well.
Undo the last few changes you made to the radio ( check the codeplug log), then try writing the radio.
Now figure why my XTS5000 shuts off and reboots then you PTT
My problem has to do with some undiscovered bug in CPS R07.00.00. The radio is not the problem, but the something in the CPS causing the radio to act irratic due to something I'm programming.
Good luck bud
UPDATE 04/08/06: My problem has something to do with MDC-1200. With MDC disabled on all personalaties, problem is gone.

well for an update, I fixed the problem...somehow . I had the rotary switch on the top setup for scan, so I changed that back to keypad lock like I had it in an older codeplug.
I decided to do this because I wrote that older one back to the radio, and the radio didn't have the issue any longer, and I compared the old and new codeplug and they were identical. Nothing can explain why the problem is fixed. All I did was changed the new code plug for the top rotary switch (the secure one A/B) back to keypad lock, blasted the plug in, then changed it back to scan, and wrote that. Radio no longer has issue. Who knows.
