Using Spectra Heads #5 or #7 on Astro Spectra ?

Post by tdilab »

Hi,

I went through the archives a could not locate a stright answer.
Having a couple of Astro Spectra head less, I wonder if there is a solution using Standard Spectra Heads (HLN 6337A) on Astro Spectra ?

It seems that either the Radio application or the Head's firmware freezes and stays in 'SELF TEST" mode with no further action possible.

Replacing the HC705 microcontroller with relevant part number may fix the problem (As for the S9000) - Any experience on such ?

It won't work because the control head's firmware is not the same and it has been addressed in the forums in the past. If you really want to take the time and desolder whatever needs to be desoldered and then resolder a different processor to the control head, that's an option- whether it'll actually produce a working head is unknown because the ROMs aren't simply "plug-in" like the Systems9000 heads.

What you'll want to do is locate a real astro spectra control head because that's all that can be guaranteed to work.

Hi Thanks
I know I have read threads about new firmware for the a9 heads.
So I guess it's not available for the a7's?
