Astro Spectra W9 Head Problem

Post by RADIO43 »

Group,

I have a Remote Mount Astro Spectra Model # T04RKH9PW9AN and a W9 Head Model # HCN1121A Rear Control Head. I am having a problem with the control heads alpha numeric display working. Also as a side note the backlighting lights up but I get nothing on display. I have two of these radios and same thing on both radios. I have also tried a diffrent cable and both cables produce the same results. I can also read and write the radio and have made sure that there is a channel name in zone 1 and channel 1? Do I have to program this diffrently since this is a rear head. Thanks in advance.

AFAIK, the rear head is ONLY functional when being used as the slave head in a dual-control-head setup. You'll need to find a "regular" W9 head for your purposes.

Is there anything I can do to reverse this so that the Rear head will work??

I suppose you could replace the firmware chip on the head and maybe make it work... but you need SMT skills, programming gear, and the firmware file.

In short, not really. Buy the appropriate head for the job.
