Remove the battery cover and look for a small slot in the plastic band that surrounds the pager. Insert a small blade screwdriver and pry that up. You should be able to pull most of it loose and then look for a small tail from the bottom cover with a hole that is under the battery about 1/3 of the way from the positive terminal. Pry that away from the retaining slot and the rear cover should come loose and allow you to remove the rest of the plastic ring.

To reassemble, refit the ring onto the top portion of the housing and then reseat the back cover.

Negative, Rich... you're thinking about an Advisor Elite with the surround ring.

The original Advisor has a strip down one of the long sides. Pry up one edge gently, then slide the strip along the track, releasing it. Once that's done, you gently pull the unit apart.

Of course, remove battery and battery door first.

tvsjr, you're right. Worked on so many of these I just think of them as Advisor and Advisor II.

I know the feeling - I tend to do the same thing. I carry an Elite and a II POCSAG... but I still love the old-school Advisors. The displays were so much better...

Sneaky!
I was messing with it and it did seem like I could kind of pull it apart by hand. But I'm glad I waited until you experts posted the solution.
Thanks!!
