XTS-5000 AES problem

Post by 123 »

I have a XTS-5000 with a DES/DES-XL/DES-OFB/AES-256 board.

Im new to AES programming. How do I enable AES in the radio? The AES encryption key has been loaded but I dont know how to tell the software to switch to AES, it keeps reverting to DES/DES-OFB I dont see it in the CPS, what Im a missing?

The XTS5000 should autodetect the key type. Basically, if you have a channel strapped to use the key in slot 1, and you load slot 1 with an AES key, the radio will transmit AES. If you rekey, and put a DES key in slot 1, the radio would then transmit DES.

I've tried this on both single-key and multi-key radios, and it worked fine. You should also see an "AES" indicator next to the secure symbol on the display when AES is in use.

Ok I got it Tx AES,I just deleted all the DES keys since my radio is only flashed for single key selection right now. FYI you have to strap the secure voice type to "astro" I didnt know that just figured it out. I dont see the "AES" indicator next to the secure symbol on the display when AES is in use. Is that just when it is receiving AES? I dont have another AES radio in front of me to check the RX.

Hmmm... Maybe the indicator isn't supported with your firmware or something.

If I remember right, the XTS5000 I saw with the AES indicator didn't have the multi-key option, and it's firmware version was around R06.XX.XX.

You should see "AES" whenever you have an AES key enabled. If you only have a single-key radio, the last key you load is the only key in it. If you have a multi-key radio, you have to match the key ID numbers between the keyloader, the Mutikey list, and the personality.
