XTS3000 Radio Question

Post by rmiles »

Recently, an 800MHz XTS3000 Model III was purchased. The radio has the following information, which was provided via CPS version R04.01.04;

Model Number: H09UCH9PW7BN
Serial Number: 423ASJXXXX
FLASHcode: 591008-4F1E00-9
Internal Hardware Version: 000C
Firmware Version: 05.51.00.00
DSP Version: N06.04.11
System Package: H38

Now, this obviously seems to be a Nick radio (whored out flashcode and Host/DSP versions). The first thing that puzzles me about this radio is the serial number. I understood that most of Nick’s radios did not have one. And this serial would indicate that the radio was manufactured in September 1992. How is that possible? It’s my understanding that the XTS3000 was first produced in 1996.

Second, can someone please explain or direct me to the reference which explains what the Internal Hardware, firmware and DSP versioning break down to?

That serial # seems to be about as bogus as the flashcode. That 423 prefix is not a standard XTS3000 format that I have ever seen. That was probably put into the radio with the proper tools at the same time that "N" flashcode was dumped in.

Since it is a parts built radio, it will not have a legit serial number.

The HOST and DSP are ancient, around 10 years old.

Current HOST: 07.25.00
Current DSP: 08.03.03

Is there a way I can upgrade the firmware myself, without taking it to a MSS?
