unless you're state has a law against it, there is technically nothing illegal about posessing a CONVENTIONAL radio with CONVENTIONAL transmit frequencies/tones on any frequency, if you have a licensed/legit copy of the s/w, etc, than this alone is not a violation of any Federal law.

However, many states now have laws prohibiting unauthorized persons from even listening (usually exemptions for LEO's, members of the media, and licensed amateur radio operators) to government radio on a mobile or portable scanner outside your home.

As was mentioned, unless you are authorized, there is no legit reason to have transmit freqs/tones enabled on any radio frequencies you aren't licensed for. Trunking radios are a whole other issue together, since it takes proprietary s/w and system keys/information, even mere posession of a trunking radio with unauthorized programming constitutes a computer crime in most states and is a violation of Federal law too (intellectual property rights). Doesn't matter if it's RX only when it comes to trunking radios.

Why don't you open the yellow pages and look for a good criminal defense attorney or contact your state's bar association for help in locating one. You're not gonna win too many friends here. People with cop radios who have unauthorized stuff in their radios are known as wackers.

This is a perfect example of what NOT to do with your radios.

It also bought the lock, becuase after the last message of this kind was pulled you posted again.

a1taxi, no offense, but please keep your legal issues off the board. If you have questions about Motorola radio, go for it. But make sure it is along the lines of something you are authorized and able to do.
