ASII what am i missing??

Post by CTAMontrose »

recased the model one to a model II, installed the screen etc and all required "uplifts"

got display fine, but the keypad buttons dont work.. what am i missing? The electronics are on the shield, i cleaned them and yet none of the 6 buttons work.

what i have noticed is on the case the top buttons just end in rubber (not the usual black surface) and there doesnt seem to be anything in between the rubber keypad and the electronics to actually make the connection.

whats goin on here??

There is a thin piece of plastic that makes the connection that is not present on the front shield of a model I. It covers all the front buttons and is the same for both models II and III. I will have to dig up the part number. I bought one a couple years ago for the same reason. It was only $11 if memory serves.

Not being one to make assumptions, but you did the required codeplug mods to make the keypad functional right? Was your housing a new refurb kit or a used one? Did the supposed part number for tyhe $11 part turn up yet?
Look, it's not in my nature to be mysterious. But I can't talk about it and I can't talk about why.

yes, all the software mods were done, and it was a used case, but the flex does not have the plastic piece, i have another AS and it does have it and it works fine.

i do still need the part number for the plastic.

4005361w01 should be the part number. List is 4.60.

Anyone know if this is included in a new refurb case kit?

Hi Shawn,
Sorry I didn't get back to you about this part yesterday. I don't think it's part of the kit. Kit only seems to have the actual keypad itself already mated with the housing.

This part is not included in the REX1103 refurb kit. That kit includes the housing, decals, clear plastic for the display, and the green buttons only.

That sucks you'd think a refurb kit would have some knobs and a top button/switch in there too. Accessory cover would be a bonus.

Damn looks like i'm gonna have to make another order...

It's not really a refurb kit so to speak. It's listed as:

ASTRO HSNG III REPLACEMENT KIT
Scott
KE4FHH

I forgot to mention it also included to battery plate and the on the interior of the case.

True, it is not meant to be a refurb case but in effect thats what it is. However, due to the unique design of the saber/astro saber as opposed to the snap together models, just replacing the housing does not contstitute a refurb.
