Best way to have firmware/DSP updated?

Post by redbeard »

I've been reading how wonderful the 8.0+ DSP is on IMBE so what is the best route to get it updated? I've heard stories of how people have sent radios with legit IMBE flashes in them and got it back with nothing more than conventional operation. I want to upgrade but it would be pointless if they are going to downgrade my flashcode while it's there.

What do I have to do to make sure that doesn't happen?
Look, it's not in my nature to be mysterious. But I can't talk about it and I can't talk about why.

Basically, your radio will have to be 100% legit. That is it will have to have complete tags with matching serial, model number, and non-whored flash.

The stories of people's radios being downgraded all where when they sent a whored out radio in for service. More likely would be that if you sent in a radio that had been franken-flashed or did not have matching tags they would simply send it back to you.

I have an AS3 that is in the middle of a repair at the depot, actually it has made a return trip for a second issue. This is all going thru a legit service tech center who sent it in for me. My radio is legit but has an odd FLASH and even that was questioned somewhat by M. I can tell you that most Depot repairs and/ or upgrades will be pricy but if you want a working radio then you have to shell out that cash. I have not seen my radio yet but I understand I scored a bonus as Motorola recased the radio. This is not a typical case however.

Good Luck

Although not Astro related,
- I had an HT750 of mine sent in to the MSS a few time for little problems (still under warranty), and every time it would come back, it had a new case on it. The old case was fine, too....so I'm not sure why they would replace it. Oh well, guess I can't complain about that! :o
