part # HLNG401A got a bunch of them adn dont have a clue what it is

You sure it's not HLN6401A?

That is:
BD CTRL HD INTCONN

according to MOL, but I have no idea what it goes to. It's been replaced by MHLN6401B.

Nope its a HLNG401A

Your second number does not match your first number.
The second number is too short. It does not fit to Motorola's standard numbering scheme.
(Now it does as you corrected your second posting).

Can you post a picture? Is it about 1.5" by 2.5" with pins on one side and a socket on the other? If so it sounds like the HLN6401A.

Like mentioned it's a HLN6401A which is a Spectra control head connector for dash mount radios.

Yep, a picture is worth a thousand words. A Spectra Interconnect board, goes between the control head and command board on a dash mount radio.
