Simplex trunking?!

Post by matthew-baker »

Just thought of this idea.....

Is ther any way to have some Mot. portables that are capable of trunking.. Program several simplex channels such as MURS or something, and program them to skip around randomly on those frequencies?

If this has already been accomplished, it's definately something that I would like to try. If not, then I guess it's not possible.

I am not that familiar with trunking systems like LTR or Passport or something... and I don't know if that would be the same thing or something....

Any info?

Or would there need to be a "3rd party" radio that broadcasts a control channel or something that gives the radio's instructions?

What radios do you own?: AM/FM

that would require licensure on the frequencies, and then portables that are capable of accepting a logic controller that can be OTA-controlled by a repeater or controller and several repeaters to broadcast the signals...etc,etc....

not DIY. sorry.

yes it is possible, but you would not BELIEVE how hard it is to create something like that with some plain ol' portables and some frequencies...

timing offsets, sequences of alogarithims...yadda yadda....

True a 1250 or 1550 can do trunking and conv modes but
he is talking about the radios doing some form of frequency
hopping between themselves. cant quite figure out why one
would want to except to jump the exchanges around to somewhat
slow down a outside listener. But then again thats not trunking,
it is just very slooooooooooooooooooow.. frequency hopping.
gotta go back and read thouroughly to comprehend what he is
asking to give a good answer. Phrawg

It IS, but it's much more complicated than that.
