So I was staring down in the empty AS1 case here earlier and noticed small holes with white showing through in the same pattern as the keypad would be on a model 3 case. Then I noticed the shiny portion to the top that looked like it could be a clear plastic window. So I start staring at the outside and realized that the speaker grille and /\/\ logo were part of an applique of sorts. So I got out a jeweler's screwdriver and started poking around. There was definitely a gap I could get the screwdriver in to. I pried up a little bit and got my pocket knife out and slid the blade under and worked it around a bit. The whole piece came loose eventually and revealed a nice clear window and some felt material which was glued down.
I did this because my display showed up and my new refurb AS3 case is still a week away. I figured hell, i'm running an AS3 flash I might as well look at the display
Update: Thanks Grem I like the 1.5 nonclementure hah

Look, it's not in my nature to be mysterious. But I can't talk about it and I can't talk about why.
Yeah maybe I will dremel out the front panel and relocate the M logo to below the grille and glue it back together. I figure hell, it's only a model 1 case...who actually wants these lol.
I will keep you in mind mancow, if I upgrade my other one to a model 3 I won't booger the case up
