HT 1000 PROGRAMMING

I am trying to program 6 HT1000 RADIOS FOR A CORRECTIONAL CENTER, BUT FOR SOM REASON , IT STATES THAT IT CANT READ, MY RIB CONNECTION IS NOT ON OR VICA VERSA, I TRIED NEW BATTERIES IN THE RIB AND RADIO, STILL NOTHING, I AM USING VERSION r03.03.00
IS THERE A REASON THAT THIS VERSION WONT READ THIS RADIO. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

still need more info. the exact model numbers of the radios, type of computer (should be older and running dos only) and anything else you can tell us. did you run the setup and select the right com port? where at in Indiana are you?

I am using a newer IBM T23 win xp, But the software is in dos. I program all other radios using this pc.I ran the set up and it couldnt find any ports.
I live 15 miles south of Michigan City

I see where the trouble is...you appear to be running DOS under XP, which is a NO-NO.

The RSS will not work with anything but DOS period, and certainly NO DOS shell.

Since this is a newer machine (as you are running XP), I would turn OFF any processor caching as well as any other caching your systems may be using.

I get hick-ups when I had EMS or high memory use as well, both of which are DOS related, I disable those as well and never have problems.

Machine speeds are also a major concern for older radios.

Good rule is to use a 486 or slower machine for the older radios and you should never have any problems programming.

the only way i've found around xp is to use a 98 or ME startup disk and start the maching in dos then take that disk out and run the program from a floppy, it's small enuf that it can fit on 1 floppy. should work the same for win2000 also.
