Motorola Hand Held, Please help

Post by xsive »

I have recently aquired an Motorola Radius CP200 16 Channel UHF Hand Held. After doing a little bit of research I found the frequency range of this unit appears to be from ~438Mhz - 470Mhz, I was hoping to use it in the -476Mhz in the UHF Cb radio frequency range... Here in Australia.

Given it's only a few Mhz away, am I still able to program in the relevent frequencies?
My good mate thinks that the frequency range is based on Opitum performance, not actual capilities.... of the radio? :-?

Can someone help me please?

Cheers!

I'm not familiar with that model, but even IF you could program your frequencies in the radio, it will not work as the radio has a set band split and the VCO will probably NOT lock on the higher frequencies, not to mention the RSS would probably not allow OOB(Out Of Band) programming.

Best bet is to buy a T-band radio that WILL allow you to get into that range of frequencies and work properly as well.
