Spectra lab question.

Post by csteger »

I have a D43.....A9 that has a little problem with the code plug. The number of modes on the system wide screen shows 00 (bottom right corner), and the max number of modes allowed is 21 (the actual modes programmed).

When I go to mode utility, it will not allow me to add more modes.

Is there a way in LAB using bit banger to change the modes from 00 to 128 (like it should be)? If not, and the code plug is wasted, does someone have a MLM for sale?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a older 800 trunking MLM that someone tried to "hack" already.

I don't think it is. When I first tried to program the radio (RSS v6), I tried to put everything in zones. All was well, until I found out I forgot to set scanning preferences. So, I deleted the zones, set the scanning preferences, and tried to add some modes.

Since then, it has not allowed me to add more than 21 modes. So, either I messed something up with the modes, or, it is an old MLM like the previous poster stated.

I will say that prior to me goofing up with the zones, it did show the max user modes as the actual # of modes programmed in to the radio. AND the zones worked fine. Now the max user modes shows 00 on the F4 - F2 screen, and the # modes enabled is set at 21.

What radios do you own?: Motorola, Icom, Sunair (HF).

If the firmware version on the MLM is below 5.7x, it will not support zoned operation, no matter how bit-banged it gets.

You may need to feed it a replacement MLM.

Happy tweaking.

Bruce,

Running into damned near the same problem with the A7 VHF Spectra I bought from you several years ago. It no shows "000" authorized modes with 30 modes programmed.

Is it possible to dump a known good code-plug into it and then go from there? What do I need to do to get the radio to realize it is allowed to have more than 000 modes?
