What radios do you own?: Too Many to list

Writing "HELP" files

Post by Hardwire001 »

Is their anyone out their that is good (know "how to" would be a start) write a "HELP" file...

I have some notes on how to fix problems on radios, and they are all stored in note pad and trying to find what I am looking for some times is a real pain, the help program with Windows seems to work pretty well (I can not believe I just said that something from Microsoft actually worked well), I have thought about putting them into something like "Works", but I think the "HELP" file options is a better route for a few reasons...

1) works and other data base programs are to specific and bloated for what I want it to do, and everyone would need to have that program if I wanted to share the notes with other people

2) I belive that the HELP files are universal no matter what window version you are running you could use them...

If any one can help let me know.

Thanks in advance...

Do a Google search for Windows Help Compiler. The actual compiler from Microsoft ships with their development products (Visual Basic, C, etc.). There may be a freeware/shareware/public license compiler out there, but I didn't look that far.

Another approach would be put your notes together in HTML files. You can use HTML tagging to link back and forth in your files. And HTML files would be viewable by any computer running a web browser, not just Windows computers.
