Visar RF Board in Different Jedi Radio

Post by DPL »

I have done some searching on the board here, and I get the impression that I can take a Visar RF board and put it in another Jedi radio (say, MTX8000, etc...). I have a UHF Visar with a no-good controller, and I am thinking of putting its RF board in an MTX8000 and create a Frankenradio with the appropriate codeplug. I am wondering if someone can confirm that I can do this (put a Visar board into another Jedi radio), and also let me know if there is anything special that I need to do to the RF board for it to work. I get the impression that the antenna connector needs to be swapped with one of the bigger ones that the other Jedi boards have, is there anything else?

Thanks.

I have done this many times. Changing the connector is all you have to do hardware-wise. The radio will need to be fully aligned, obviously.
