There is some host/firmware that would toss that up. It was a bug in the firmware.

You probably should update the host/dsp it is kinda old. Do you know if it is 1 meg or 512k?

I haven't read it with the CPS yet, the label doesn't match the service menu output.

But I'll ask the question I've asked in another thread.
You say to update the firmware ...

Why ???

Is there some other bug besides the unknwn message?
What is it having trouble identifying?
Thats the sequence where it would ID the encryption type, but there is no encryption board.

I'm not doing anything unusual with the radio.
I'll be rx/tx on ham frequencies and rx p25 on public safety - so what will updated firmware do for me?

I cant tell you specifically what a host/dsp upgrade would do for you. It would certainly correct the "unknown" issue.

Look at it this way, each time they change the first # on the host or dsp its a major revision change.

So going from 8 to 11 in host you would go up 3 major revisions. Going from 6 dsp to 8 you would go up 2 major revisions.

PM me.

What radios do you own?: APX4K, XTL5K, NX5200, NX700HK

Yeah, plus the new DSP makes the radio work and sound better too... I moved up from the same firmware and DSP in one of my radios... it was probably the best improvement I've done.

hrmmm - does it have to go to depot, or can a dealer do it locally?

Some dealers may have the equipment to do it, otherwise a depot trip is needed. PM me and I can give your other details.
