Long time lurker, first time poster here. I just purchased a used drop-in charger for my MTX9000. The kit number is NTN7209A. When a dead battery is inserted, it switches to 'complete' in about 3 minutes. I've seen some scattered remarks online about this being a known problem. Is there a known fix, or should I start looking for another charger?
my brother-in-law has a few of the above chargers left. the link is just for reference...
You can email him thru me. about $10.00 used & the UPS fee & he will send her out.
don't know if theres a fix for the "shoe" ntn 7209! but he may have access to getting the ntn7209 also...don't know the price.. good luck..Jim Reid

welcome to the batlab forum
I've seen reports here on issues with the NTN7209 (aka NTN1168) but mine works fine. I do get that green in a couple minutes on batteries that are way past their prime but on decent batteries it provides about an hours charge on the 7143 batteries a bit longer on 7144. Might be a bad charger but you might want to try it with a known good battery before tossing it.

thats what I forgot to post before.. good tip "RadioSouth" !! Check your battery date codes also: heres a tip on reading the 3 digit code: http://www.repeater-builder.com/motorol ... codes.html
take a pencil eraser/ or fine polishing paper 1500+ & shine all the contacts. both the charger & the battery..If I recall the AC plug that plugs in the unit has 3 tabs. make sure there clean & have a good tight connection. post back & let us know what the battery dates are, & if you get it to work? JR
Sometimes the batteries do well after sitting in a slow charger for a while, before being charged in a rapid charger. The rapid chargers I think look for voltage X before they will bring the battery up to full charge. The slow chargers couldn't care less, so drop it in, and see what happens. Next time, if you use the rapid one, it may actually fix it.
Hi....I put up a few posts on this same issue....I bought an ntn7209A and have (2) NEW OEM ntn7143 batteries.....the charger did the same thing, after 3-4 mins, turns green....I also have the reg. style drop-in rapid charger, and these same batteries work perfectly on it, as well as my vehicular rapid charger....only when they are used with the 7209 do i get this problem....I sent it back and got a second unit, and it did the same thing......like I said, my batteries are new, and work fine in 2 other rapid chargers.....i finally gave up and just stuck with my good old trusty drop-in rapid charger, that charges them perfectly.....thanks, David KD6RFS
