Astro Spectra audio problem

Post by FMROB »

Hello all,

Don't have a service manual, But what I do have is a UHF astro spectra that TX's and makes 40+ watts, but has no audio and makes a kinda am tuning whine during tx.

Any idea where to start or what module to start with.

Thanks, Rob

Is this radio all original? Or changed from dash to remote or vice versa?

How about is the deviation alignment mode. Does it generate the internal tone?

This was a hacked together radio.

It was an original 450mhz data spectra and a q split astro spectra.

I have done this before with no issues, I will test the internal tone mode.

The Q spectra is a dash mount, and will remain a dash mount.

I believe the data radio RF and Astro RF boards are different regarding audio routing. Maybe someone has access to detailed service manuals to confirm?

The audio parts would be contained in the astro spectra boards which were in a q split radio. The spectra data radio should have supplied the PA, vco and front end. At least this is my understanding of the post. Did the Q split have audio before the swap?

My guess is the audio amp took a dump. I have a command board with a bad one as well.

Jason,

I don't recal, but I don't think that it had any problems.

I may be calling you ref some new boards.. Thanks, Rob

Take another working astro spectra that you have and swap the command board and see if that is the problem.
