MaxTrac PA Replacement

Post by Rayjk110 »

I have a VHF 16ch "5 Pin" Maxtrac 300, which is 25 watts. In the case that the PA fails or is starting to go,

I have a 25w VHF Radius "M10" radio with the 16pin accy connector.

Is it possible to swap the M10 PA onto the Maxtrac? If so, will I need to retune, and, would that mean just re-writing the previous values, or bench-tuning with a bird meter?

Thanks.

The MaxTrac and Radius components (RF boards, logic boards, PA, and front panels) are fully interchangeable. The model number on the sticker would not match the radio after the swap, but that's no big deal. You can even put a 45w PA on a 25w radio, and vice versa.

Just swap them, go through the PA alignment in RSS (you will need a wattmeter and dummy load), and you're good to go.
