We all know that a trunked radio "scans" by listening to the control channel data for a list of Talkgroup IDs, then goes to the assigned voice channel.. yadda yadda.
we also know that the stream contains Radio IDs and what TG they are currently PTTing on.
How about we combine that and have the option to add Radio IDs in a scan list.
From an admin standpoint this could be usefull, trying to track down a rogue radio, punch in the suspected ID and follow his transmissions from your portable/mobile.
Sargents can put their guys in the list and keep tabs on them as well.
Looking at how the stream operates, it seems it would be a very easy thing to add, perhaps even have the display show the TG its currently on as well, much like a standard call using TG scan... ex:
A4 Zone 4
ID: 741001
Perhaps even make it to where it WONT monitor the Radio if its currently in a private call situation.

That actually sounds like it wouldn't be too hard to implement in the Trunker program.. or a scanner. It'd sell big too; whackers could use it to keep tabs on their favorite officer, or newsroom listeners and stringers could use it to follow homicide detectives, fire marshals, the mobile in the meat wagon, etc. Then we'd see additional listings in Radioreference for Officer Jim Bob's portable using ID 701001, the fire chief being 701337, and so forth. And then we'd see full-time encryption en masse thanks to the induced paranoia.
Think about it.
Think about it.

You can already do that in Trunker. You can flag individual IDs to beep and/or flash on the screen when they transmit.motorola_otaku wrote:That actually sounds like it wouldn't be too hard to implement in the Trunker program.. whackers could use it to keep tabs on their favorite officer
You won't see them on RR. Per Lindsay, radio IDs will not be published.motorola_otaku wrote:Then we'd see additional listings in Radioreference for Officer Jim Bob's portable using ID 701001, the fire chief being 701337, and so forth.
Or a dealer's favourite narcotics detective if he thinks the heat's onmotorola_otaku wrote:That actually sounds like it wouldn't be too hard to implement in the Trunker program.. or a scanner.
