Xts3000 model 1 upgrade questions.

Post by TWL911 »

Looking to upgrade my VHF M1 to either a Model II or III.

I have the parts list required for the model III, but not the II
what is diffent? just the keypad and housing ? anyone have the part #s?

I would really like to swap to a model II, as I don't need the DTMF pad. I have access to a bunch of other Model II's (which makes part of the upgrade easier) But I'm thinking a model 3 used housing is going to be easier to find.

is there any other benefit to swaping to a model 3, instead of a 2?

also anyone with a parts unit, or any of the parts I'll need PM me.

Depending on how your menu items are set up, you can do direct keypad entry of zones or channels on a Model 3.. i.e. you want to go to Zone 8, just hit the Zone menu button, 8, and Home and you're there.

Scrolling through channels with the arrow buttons REALLY sucks if you have big zones, like me (like 150 channels.) The full keypad as otaku described is a lifesaver in that situation.

I didn't look things up recently but if i remember right the full keypad is cheaper to buy than the limited one anyway.

thanks, I'm not having any luck finding a MII case anyhow, seems like there are always some MIII's on ebay.

So depending on what I can dig up for the second part of the transformation, it looks like its time to build a MIII

Not trying to hijack a thread here, but that statement got me to thinking.

Does "M" still support the XTS3K's? I had been thinking of recasing a MII here in the future, because of the spongy feeling PTT button, and was going to start the hunt for a case and the cost of it.

Thanks. That is a very reasonable price.
