Which coax to use?

Post by emtprt »

I need to run 40' of coax from a UHF (453.050) Maxtrac to a 9.6 dB Yagi roof mounted antenna. The Maxtrac is used as a receiver for a paging extender in a metal work building.

The second UHF (456.55) Maxtrac, which is used as a transmitter, is set at 2 watts and uses a magmount 1/4 wave antenna.

We are using Minitor 4 pagers and have frequency programming limitations. Channel 1 is the normal dispatch channel and channel 2 is one of our secondary frequencies.

For the last year the system has worked fairly with an outdoor scanner antenna and RG58.

I have also experimented using a p200 instead of a Maxtrac as the transmitter.

Thanks for yor input

For your run of 40 feet at UHF, 460mhz, nothing less than RG213 the Mil spec stuff.

If it is a perminit instalation, LMR400 or 1/2" Heliax.
