XTS2500 Model 1.5
Hey guys. I've got an XTS2500 Model 1.5 [000008-002410-2] sitting in my hands right now.
From everything I've heard, you can only put 48 channels in them...so I thought.
Its letting me put 96 channels in there.
You use the A/B/C switch as the zone select, then whatever button you want as the "ZONE BANK" select button...ALA SSE5000
This gives you 6 Zones of 16 Channels...96 Freakin channels!
I don't know if it has something to do with new firmware/cps.
Anyone know if this is only for the 1.5, and not the model 1?
-Mike

As far as I know it's just for the 1.5 due to the display. With a Model 1 there would be no way to tell where you were once you moved away from the first 3 zones.
We have a bunch of Model 1.5's in the fleet in both the XTS2500 and MT1500 flavors. Our users are very happy with them but none have asked to go passed the 48 channel mark.
The display was a very good move by Motorola, especially in the low tier MT1500.

Ask and ye shall receive.
Forgive me as they're quick and dirty. Think of them as amateur radio porn- no airbrushing here guys.
Click the smaller ones to see them full size.

To the contrary; there is a 2-tone beep that goes from low-->high / high-->low.KS4VT wrote:there would be no way to tell where you were once you moved away from the first 3 zones.
Low to high from Zone 1,2,3 --> 4,5,6 and vice versa.
Still hard to keep track of 96 channels- that'd be one big cheat-sheet taped to the front of the radio.
I can only imagine the frustration with an MT1000 99-channel: "great I'm on ch. 68. What the hell is on ch. 68?"
Thank god for alpha tagging...

OK...I'll take your word for it. I woudn't want to put my users through the mess you described though without a display.mikegilbert wrote:To the contrary; there is a 2-tone beep that goes from low-->high / high-->low.KS4VT wrote:there would be no way to tell where you were once you moved away from the first 3 zones.

I have about 500 model 1.5 radios in service and the police love em.
There is much less places for water to enter and and the display means they can see what channel they are on. It lets the radio have the basic functionality without the clutter of complexness. I used to program the buttons out on the model 2 radios.
Now I'm just waiting for the XTS1500 1.5 to appear on my books so I can do the sanitatioin departments and finally get the whole system digital.
After that it's plan the upgrade to 7.x
