XTS5000 800 MHz - 850 Talkgroups???
A large public safety organization has told me that the XTS5000 has
"850 talkgroups or channels". These are 800 MHz units. My Moto literature says they have 512.
Has anyone seen any proof of 850 talkgroups for the XTS5000? This might have something to do with rebanding. Has Moto tighten up their
microcode to add 340 talkgroups???

Its also nice to know that I still have open channels so should I need to add additional channels/modes I can without any issues and on the fly.
As an example, with my XTS3K I have different personalities saved on a thumb drive for different applications i.e. hurricane activations & drills, and then my "regular configuration.
With my XTS2500 it's all loaded all the time.

CPS OTA? Uh, yeah... I predict it'll take forever, especially for loaded codeplugs (unless they get *really* smart about things) and, due to user incompetence, will result in radios improperly reloaded (probably by accident).Bruce1807 wrote:I find 15 channels for the police plenty and then a dozen hurricane channels fine.
Well comming soon is CPS OTA.
It was announced at the last Motorola Trunked User Group meeting.
I'll post some more info after the annual meeting on the 6th August in Orlando.
850 talkgroups should be enough for anyone in the field. If you're a sysadmin, bring your programming gear with you.
Over the Air Radio ProgrammingSafe Channel Talkgroup and Site Programming
What is it?
Robust system to use CPS Program to send individual radios new talkgroup and system site information via the ASTRO 25 IV&D system.
How Does It Work?
The Enhanced CPS utilizes the radio data system to deliver instructions to the radio to :
- Read / Write the Radio codeplug
- Update talkgroups channel assigns to the radio
- Add and Update Site information
- Update traditional CPS editable features
Manage Fielded Radios from a Central Location/s.
Use the ASTRO 25 IV&D to Download a New Radio Personality / Parameters.
Connect an Authorized Customer Programming Software(CPS) to your CEN, Read and Modify the Fielded Radio’s Parameters.
Use the Customer Programming Software over ASTRO 25IV&D to: - Add System Talkgroup
- Replace Talkgroup
- Add Talkgroup to the Zone Table.
- Replace Talkgroup with another Talkgroup in the Zone Table
- Update any other Radio’s Parameter
- Does NOT support FLASHport or tuning
Planned for XTS/XTL 5000/2500 which support ASTRO 25 IV&D
- XTL/XTS 1500 support to follow after initial launch
