SPECTRA REMOTE HEAD QUESTION

Post by STEVE W »

I have a mid power remote mount Spectra A7. The reomote head is now mounted on a HLN6432A plastic back and it works fine, when I changed it to a B version the five top row buttons over the display do not work, they beep when they are pushed. The head is the advanced version and the firmware is 5.21. Do I have a bad part or is there ia differnece in the versions. I do know it was originally used on A4 ASTROS that were in fire service.

THANKS,
Steve

Are you saying you switched the backing (HLN6432) and got the error?

That shouldn't have caused any issues- have you checked the pins on the back of the head itself to make sure none bent while putting it in? All the rev. indicates is a upgrade version, but as long as the main part# is the same, it 'should' be fine... I've not heard of those going bad, I wonder if there's water damage somewhere...

The key is the buttons Do the BEEP when pushed, that would indicate they are not programmed correctly. So the head up IS reading the key presses, and the cable should not have any interaction, but we have seen may things on Spectras that "does not compute".

Next step: Do an Control Head TEST, KEY test.

I give up , I tried again this time running the rss to run the code plug again, same thing buttons beep but do not work. Put the original A version back on and put the part back in the cabinet , may I will heave it the next time I clean out the junk bin where I put it.

Spectra remote head difference

Post by STEVE W »

I actually did not give up, I compared the pc boards and it hit me, the Blenderman site thought that theim\r might be a diiference in the jumpers, sure enough, the B version only had 1 jumper instead of 2 on the top right . I soldered a jumper and now I have full usage of the top row of buttons. I guess stuborness and beginners luck paid off.

Thanks
Steve W.
