Astro Saber III Stuck on Power-Up

I just recieved an Astro Saber III which does not power up. When I turn it on the green LED comes on and stays steady... and thats it. There is no beep and the screen stays blank. Not surprisingly, the radio does not read with CPS.

Here is what I am thinking:
1. bad vocon
2. bad flex
3. corrupt codeplug

I have had radios with the first two problems before. However, the one with the bad vocon would at least make it to self test before hanging up and the bad flex didn't power up at all - not even the LED. As far as the last one, I could try to write a known good codeplug to the radio, however, knowing nothing about it I would prefer not to for now.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Corrupt codeplug will result in FAIL 01/92 or a similar error.

Either its been inhibited, or it has one of the first two problems..

Ah... I didnt think of it possibly being inhibited. It does have smartzone in the flashcode on the tags and it did come from a major city with several TRS's so that is a possibility. In fact, that will probably be the first thing I try in the morning.

If it was inhibited, you would still be able to read the radio. I would first check your internal connections, it sounds like the command board isn't talking to the display for some reason.

Ahh.. Can I ask a silly question Fuel4300?

Is the battery fully charged? I have seen that exact same behavior when theres not enough charge for the radio to actually boot, so it just gets stuck at the green LED stage.

I did that earlier. Everything seems to be seated properly, although i didnt not break out the voltmeter. I know its not just a problem with the display because I dont get a beep and the LED never goes out - so it is not booting up.

Yes, I made sure the battery took a full charge. Originally I was hoping that was the problem.

I tried writing a known good codeplug to the radio and the best I could do was the REQUEST NOT ACKed/NAKed ERROR message on the first block.

When I get some time later I will take it back apart and check it more thoroughly.
