XTS3000R Uhf popping noise?

Post by Firefighter »

I have a Motorola XTS3000R UHF model 1 and everytime I turn on the radio no matter what channel (analog or digital) the radio is on I hear a popping sound at the start of the first received transmission after the radio has been turned on, then it no longer happens on analog channels. Same goes for digital apco channels however it sometimes makes a popping noise during the start of a digital transmission even after the first time (this only happens every now and then in digital mode).

I've also notice the same thing happen on my XTS5000 Vhf alpa radio in analog mode but not digital. Can anyone tell me if this is normal or not?. I'm using the same battery on both radios, could it be the battery doing this?. Thanks.

i think you are referring to the audio PA "pop" noise that is VERY common on the spectra line.

i've had some 3000's that were definately more prounounced unsquelching than others.

i would lean away from any type of hardware related problem - especially if the transmissions are received ok without distortion or clipping.

My XTS3000R II does the same thing but you realy have to be listening for it, wouldnt worry too much about it.
