Astro Saber AVA HELP!!!!

Post by KG4OUJ »

I bought and installed an Astro Saber AVA, (it is the proper model number and has the cut out, top front cutout, warning decal on the top and ASTRO in the face plate). After installation I tried to insert my Astro Saber III VHF radio into the unit. IT WILL NOT GO DEEP ENOUGH TO WORK WITH THE LONG BATTERY INSTALLED ON THE RADIO!!!!???? I swapped the battery for a medium sized battery and it works just fine. Shouldn't it work with any real Motorola battery that works on the radio? The batteries that I have are NTN4992Cs with THREE contact points on the top? They are the same size as the Motorola NTN 4595Ds that have two contact points on top but neither will work in the AVA?? Is there something that can be adjusted to let the long batteries fit? Is this normal? Am I missing something?

Last but not least, does anyone have a manual for the AVA that I can purchase, will settle for a copy, let me know please!

Best Regards,

Ed

What radios do you own?: Too many!

No, you must not use the long batteries with the AVA. I know it doesn't make sense, but that's the way it is.
