No Rx Audio on my VHF XTS5000

Post by Fuel4300 »

I have a VHF XTS5000 MDL II which has worked perfectly for the last two years and now has absolutely zero recieve audio. All of the keypad tones work so it is not a speaker problem.

The firmware was recently upgraded to version 08.xx.xx two weeks ago and I have used it very little since then. I cannot say for sure if the problem if the problem first appeared immediately after the upgrade or not. Also, Tx is fine.

I haven't checked the tuning values yet... I have to find my CPS and install the tuner.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

What radios do you own?: Too many!

By any chance was it somehow switched into surveillance mode?

Looks like I will have to replace the RF board. Before I got swapping parts I just want to make sure: As with the XTS3000 I can just swap out the board and have it tuned, right?

There have been several posts being regarding the tuner version being updated by the vocon but that should not be a problem since I am just replacing the board and will not be putting it into another radio.

you can swap the boards but make sue you have the correct version board. not as easy anymore where you used to be able to convert an 800 Mhz xts 3000 to a VHF by simply changing the RF board and antenna and dropping in a new S-REC. I don't know what's different but they different bands aren't compatible with the VOCONS with the 5k, which is why if you want to change bands, you might as well get a new radio.

I am not trying to change bands so I shouldn't run into a problem with that.

Will it make a difference which revision of the RF Board I have?

On MOL I see that there are two cancelled versions (an A and B) and then one with a completely serperate model number which is the one currently in production.
