XTS 2500 VHF Modell II - how many channels?

Post by LAPD_Astro »

Hello,

I wonder how many channels a XTS 2500 II VHF radio has. I have found different information on this.

I would also like to know wether the XTS 2500 or 3000 is better.

Thanks for your answers

Depends on the version of Firmware and the last version of CPS that programmed it. It can be either 256 or 512 modes.

As to which is better, I don't think there is much of a comparision except for overall size, type of public safety speaker mic that has to used for the non-VHF versions, and the ability to slap a 3000 ma battery on an xts3k that seems to make the radio last forever.

I'm sure there are other operational differences that others can post as well.

Thanks for your answer.
I have the XTS 5000 / 2500 R04.00.01 CPS here with which I have sucessfully programmed one XTS 5000 II radio.

Is it possible to say if I can 256 or 512 channels with the R04.00.01 CPS ?

Thanks :P

Depends on what Firmware is in the radio...that is really what matters.

So, now I have the follwoing information on my XTS 2500 II VHF:
Host and DSP R05.01.00
ESN AE79415E0088630F
4 MEG
Tuning R01.09.10
Flashcode 100001-000000-7
Proc Ver Bravo 112

I hope that it is possible to say how many channels the radio has - 255 vs. 512 - by this information.

The second question is what kind of programming cable I need? Is it the RIBless cable which fits the XTS 5000 radios?
I have XTS 2500/5000 CPS R04.00.01 here, I can I read the radio with this CPS version?

I am afraid to ask these questions but as I don´t have the cable I cannot just try to read the radioand just add channels so I can see on my own how many ch the radio has.

Thanks for your answers ;)

Should be 256 modes with that firmware. If I remember correctly has to be 7.0 or greater for 512. Firmware refresh is usually $75.00 to the latest revision and it will give you the channel increase automaticially.

To program it you need the HKN6183A cable which is a RIBless cable and the Mobile Astro25 CPS is RVN4185. The portable one won't work.

Hope this helps.

Come again? Using Mobile Astro25 CPS to program a XTS2500?

I'm sorry...I thought you had an XTL, my bad. That's what I get for posting so early.

Yes the XTS5000 and 2500 are one of the same as is the Astro25 CPS for both models.

I will have to see where I can get the Firmware refresh. I live in germany, europe so nobody here knows XTS radios.
