xts5000 Rx pl

Post by fire_master_21 »

I am having problems with my xts5000 unmuting when I put in the pl of our repeater here at work. The pl is 141.3 and I have put it in both with CPS and the front panel. If I put it as CSQ it recieves just fine. the repeater is set to kick out this pl and every other radio I have will RX this. Any ideas?

The 5000's RX PL is very tight. I've got a portable repeater which uses a TS32 for the output tone... works just fine with my 3000s and older radios, but the unit's tolerance is not tight enough for my 5000, thus no decode.

You could also have an alignment issue.

When we got our stack of XTS2500's in, we had a particluar channel with this exact issue and found the repeater to be off freq. These radios are very, very tight.

check to see if you'e got the channel setup for mixed mode on receive. If it is, then set it to analog only.

I've noticed problems using PL's with older firmware.

I have tried both mixed and analog both, still does it. I am thinking the repeater might be slightly off. It does work with all my ht1000's and xts3500, just not my xts5000 or AS3.

Check your repeater's PL deviation, too. It seems most Astro radios don't like under-deviated PL's, while analog only radios seem to tolerate them much better.
