Will this Astro do Digital ?
Hi
I bought a Astro Spectra 800Mhz off ebay.
Here is the Program History:
Model: Do4UJF9W5AM
Software Version: G51
Serial Number: 49AZA0400
Radio Software Version: 07.01.xx.xx
DSP Software Version: M05.00.18
Codeplug Version: 000C
Flashcode: 5000080000001
Can someone tell me if this radio will do Digital?
Thanks
Max

grem467's answer pertains to the flashcode, TPG's answer refers to the firmware. Firmware must support the features contained in the flashcode.
This radio has old firmware and an analog DSP. It will need an upgrade to do IMBE digital voice.
If your question about digital trunking refers to Motorola's Astro25 9600 baud trunking - that would need an even bigger upgrade - probably a new VOCON with 1 meg or else an Astro Spectra Plus upgrade.

It will still do whats in the flash if I remember correctly, just that it wont do imbe since the dsp doesn't support it. So its a little better than a paperweight. The M and N are next to each other on the keyboard. I'd hope and pray for a typo but my guess is someone dumped a imbe s-rec into an analog only radio.

Astro Spectra new question !!!!
After reading all the replys,i was wondering is i changed the MOTOROLA ASTRO SPECTRA BOARD HLN-6458 1MEG VOCON NEW SPARE FLASHED IMBE/P25
This is a MOTOROLA model number HLN-6458 (most are "G"'s) for the VHF series radio (might fit other series) board, these were new spares for a govt agency that kept a large stock of spares, they changed radio types and the spares became excess. You are bidding on one board only.
These boards were marked as spares for an agencies VHF hi band system but we have been told they are programmed for an 800MHz radio but can be changed back with the lab version RSS? You will need to check into this yourself but everyone we sold boards to are very happy with them and they are being used on many different bands. The latest info we have is:
Firmware revision - 11.03.00
DSP revision - N07.03.12
Flashcode - 500008-000000-1
Q806/G806 IMBE / APCO-25 Digital Operation
H14/G114 Digital ID Display
H38/G51 Smartzone Operation
with one 800MHz freq programmed on them.
Will this work on my Astro Spectra?
