I was working on an astro saber III today that worked perfectly fine, but had absolutely no audio whatsoever.
MOL lists NTN7637C as SHLD FT NON DISPLAY, then footnotes that items 21 thru 23 which are the speaker magnet, display mod w/ flex and a non display shield. WTF? So they are selling the non-display front shield assembly with a display??
I wanted to replace the speaker, but MOL does not list it separately. Then I thought I'd just replace the whole front shield and part out the extras, but MOL makes no sense in its listing. Anyone have any experience ordering these parts? If I order the non display front assembly, is there and indentation where I can knock out the portion needed and reuse the current display module?
Also, I still have found no reference on what the last HOST/DSP release was for the astro saber. Some here has to know.

For the astro saber and the speaker, Motorola only sells it with the flex and the front piece that includes the display holder, not the display. It's also the piece with all the circuitry for the buttons on full keypad models. The cost for this assembly is ridiculous.
When I had a speaker that was bad on my Astro Saber, I went to the Moto dealer, laughed at the ASTRO Saber assembly price and settled on an HT750 type speaker, which they had in stock for $7.50 or something like that. The speaker magnet isn't as big and the speaker itself is just slightly larger in diameter than the Saber so the fit in the gold colored front assembly is a bit tight.
If the flex is where your problem lies, you will probably just have to fork over the high-dollar to Motorola to get the correct replacement part.

The flex connector is tight and I investigated the front shield better this morning. Do you know of any place that might sell salvage parts for /\/\ radios? If I could get the NTN7638 front shield assembly without a display, I'd be more than happy to reuse the current working display module. Someone out there somewhere must have an AS their willing to part out. /\/\ wants $456.00 for a new NTN7638B, with display. I might be better off just buying one of the cheap ASIII's on eBay and recycling parts that way. Suggestions?
