Tunking OSW??????

Post by Kevin212 »

Will different radios have different OSW values on the same system. It was my understanding that the OSW was a value set by the system. More specific will a XTS2500 and a Astro Saber II have a different OSW program value being used on a Type II Smartnet Trunking system?

My two bits worth:
From memory:

If you have a specific question I will attempt to look it up.

OSW (Outbound Signalling Word.)
This is the data on the control channel that has many different uses:
The OSW synchronizes the micro computers in the subscriber units.

Some of the data on the OSW:
Current channel assignments for the various fleets, or talk groups, System ID, diagnostics.
The Subscriber unit sends the ISW (Inbound Signalling Word).
The ISW contains the channel request, Fleet/Talk group ID, unit ID, as well as specific requests such as interconnect, Secure.
