Can someone help find out if this radio has a 1MEG VOCON

Post by Max »

Hi
I have recently bought a Astro Spectra 800MHz Smartzone Flash code
5000008-000000-1
The seller of this radio claims there is a 1MEG VOCON board in the
radio .The radio is programmed in the older DOS RSS and i do not have the newer CPS RSS,just so i can read it and conform that there is a 1MEG VOCON
board in the radio.I have been told that with CPS you will be able to
see if its a 512k or 1 meg,but you can not with DOS RSS.
Any chance someone has the CPS RSS,that i can send a copy of the
codeplug to to see what's in the radio. This has
become a big issue, because i think i was sold a radio that was claimed
by the seller to have a 1 meg in it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Max,

That's a standard 1 meg flashcode.

Options Installed on this Flashcode:

500008-000000-1

Q806/G806 IMBE / APCO-25 Digital Operation
H14/G114 Digital ID Display
H38/G51 Smartzone Operation

Vocon

Put the radio in service mode (press home 5 times)

Watch the display. You will see the Model/Serial, DSP, HOST, if there is an enryption module present, the flashcode and vocon size. You should see "1 MEG" pass by on the display before the radio gets to "FLASHCD" and displays the flash.

If you dont see the 1MEG display, chances are you have a 512.
Look on the label of the radio. There should also be a 1MEG logo on the tag, if the radio shipped from the factory with a 1meg board.

Doesn't always mean its still in there, but its a good place to start.

FWIW, you are posting this in the wrong forum, ASTRO radios are discussed in the ASTRO forum, not in general. Post your ASTRO questions there.

Mod, please move.

Usually the serial # decal will say 1 meg on it on an Astro Spectra. The ones I've seen anyway do. Good luck. GARY

Thanks for all the replys.
The radio does have a 1 MEG sticker on the back, but when i put the radio into test mode(service) it does not say 512k or 1 Meg,my feeling is that the guy who sold me the radio swaped out the board.I have checked the part number on the board HLN6450E if i'm not mistaken it should be HLN6450G the difference being the last letter.
