Thinkpad 365XD & MTSX RSS
I just got an IBM Thinkpad 365XD. I thought about making it a strictly programming laptop (versus a dual-boot system). However, the RSSs somehow doesn't like the serial port. Even with the "Test COM port" (MTSX F9-F3-F6) pauses, then comes back with a "cannot acquire busy line error." Other programs can use the serial port just fine... how do I know if the serial port has a hardware handshaking line? That's what's causing the error, right?
I'm still trying to get my Thinkpad 600 to work, put this got me closer. From DOS, find where PS2.EXE is (usually C:\THINKPAD or C:\DRIVERS\WIN\UTILTY) and "CD C:\THINKPAD". If it's not there, you need to install the DOS Configuration Utility. Then, run the following command:
PS2 ? SERA
If current state is not "enable", type:
PS2 SERA ADD X
PS2 SERA ENABLE
Where "X" is your COM port (1 - 4).
This gets me a "TIMEOUT ERROR" instead of "CANNOT ACQUIRE LINE BUSY ERROR" but I guess it's an improvement.
EDIT: I reboot TWICE (not once like PS2 said) and the TIMEOUT ERROR went away. SUCCESS!
