MTX838

Post by MattSR »

Hi All,

I havent recently bought an MTX838 and im trying to read it with MTSX version R06.07.00. I keep getting "Request not ACKd" error....

Does anyone know what may be causing this? I can read my other radio (XTS3000) just fine with this PC and RIB.

Please help,
Matt

And when I go into the software config menu, and hit F6 (test port) it says its communicating with the radio perfectly...

Are you in DOS, or using a DOS prompt within Windows?

MS-DOS 6.22 running on a Pentium 200Mhz laptop.

I am going to try a genuine RIB and cable as well as a different housing on the radio. Another batlabber has bought radios from the same source and they had faulty flexes too.

OK, after talking to someone else that has bought one of these babies from the same source, the problem has been traced to a faulty housing/flex.

When I read the radio with the front housing detached, it all works fine. When the radio is assembled, it gets the NACK error....

So, in short I have a new housing on the way and the problem will be solved!!

Cheers,
Matt

Well, they're quite cheap so I dont mind. only thing is that the auction shows a nice clean radio, but what you get is covered in dirt and looks like its been throw against a wall 100 or so times.

If you wanna know, have a look on eBay, the seller is in Australia and the radios are going for about $100 aussie or so.. PM me if you wanna know more - I think its against board rules to slag people off.

New housing did the trick too!

I get NACK errors when the radio is in scan mode and scanning active channels, OR there is voice traffic....OR you are hearing computer generated hash that keeps the receiver 'open'.

I got that same message twice on a MTS2000 here, so I removed the antenna and placed the radio on a single channel and all was fine afterwards.

The RSS doesn't like to fight with external noise as it corrupts the data stream being read from the radio.
